Description

Aromatic and spiced Butter Chicken cooked in a rich and creamy tomato sauce, delivering an unforgettable culinary experience.


Ingredients

  • 680 g chicken thighs, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp plain yogurt or Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp butter (divided)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 400 g tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt (to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups cream (whipping cream or cooking cream)
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp curry powder (additional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Basmati rice or naan bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix chicken pieces with marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add marinated chicken and cook until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. Melt 1 tbsp of butter in the same skillet. Sauté minced garlic and diced onion until translucent.
  4. Add tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes. Stir in sugar, salt, and pepper and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet. Add cream, cayenne pepper (if using), garam masala, and additional curry powder. Stir well and simmer on low heat for 8-10 minutes.
  6. Stir in remaining butter until melted for added creaminess.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with basmati rice or naan bread.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute chicken with tofu or cauliflower.
