Aromatic and spiced Butter Chicken cooked in a rich and creamy tomato sauce, delivering an unforgettable culinary experience.

- 680 g chicken thighs, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt or Greek yogurt
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp butter (divided)
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 400 g tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt (to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups cream (whipping cream or cooking cream)
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp curry powder (additional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
- Basmati rice or naan bread for serving
Instructions
- Mix chicken pieces with marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add marinated chicken and cook until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Melt 1 tbsp of butter in the same skillet. Sauté minced garlic and diced onion until translucent.
- Add tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes. Stir in sugar, salt, and pepper and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet. Add cream, cayenne pepper (if using), garam masala, and additional curry powder. Stir well and simmer on low heat for 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in remaining butter until melted for added creaminess.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with basmati rice or naan bread.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute chicken with tofu or cauliflower.
