Description
A delightful and fluffy Austrian dessert that brings a taste of the Alps to your kitchen.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Eggs
- 250 ml Milk
- 150 g Wheat flour
- 30 g Sugar
- 1 packet Vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch Salt
- 30 g Butter (for frying)
- 2 tbsp Raisins (optional)
- 1 tbsp Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Separate the eggs. Whisk the egg whites in a clean bowl.
- Mix the egg yolks with milk, sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Gradually stir in the flour until a smooth batter forms.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff and gently fold them into the batter.
- Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. Pour the batter in and allow it to set. Optionally sprinkle the raisins on top.
- Turn the mixture once the bottom is golden brown, divide it into quarters, turn them over, and cook through. Tear apart the pieces roughly with two forks and fry briefly until everything is nicely golden.
- Dust the Kaiserschmarrn with powdered sugar and enjoy it warm.
Notes
You can prepare the ingredients the night before and let the batter rest in the refrigerator for better flavor integration.
